Government policy
on complementary healthcare is perpetuating health inequalities
and adding long-term cost to the economy, according to a new
report published by Fellows’ Associates.
Public health, Private Wealth: Complementary healthcare
and the NHS
reviews government
policy in the context of public health and recommends the
universal availability of acupuncture, osteopathy and chiropractic
on the NHS. It was produced with support from

In 2005 Fellows participated in a stakeholder group created
by Defra to support the implementation of new legislation for
fixed penalty notices. Following this, Defra published draft
guidance on the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005 in
October 2005. Fellows response
to the consultation welcomes Defras use of fixed penalty
notices to tackle environmental crime but, drawing upon previous
research published by Fellows, warns against the penalty
notice system growing in an ad hoc and fragmented fashion and
calls for the introduction of a national Penalty Notices Act.
